Prayer Shawl Ministry

Members of our Prayer Shawl Ministry meet at the church in room three
on the second and fourth Monday of each month between 9:30 and 11:00 A.M.
Both those who crochet and those who knit are welcome.
If you would like to learn how to crochet or knit, join us and we will assist you.
Our prayer shawls provide comfort to friends and relatives who are sick,
homebound, recuperating from surgery or mourning a loved one.

We also make shawls for the families of Fallen Soldiers and donate
shawls to Hospice patients at Christmas time, as well as for RCIA
(Right of Christian Initiation for Adults). These shawls are a tangible
gift of God's love and bring great comfort to those in need.

Since its inception in 2002 the Sacred Heart Ministry has distributed
over 500 shawls to men, women and children, including baptismal
blankets for our newest parishioners.
Donations of yarn are always appreciated by the shawl ministry.
(yarn can not be wool due to the potential for allergic reaction)

Shawl Blessing Prayer

May God’s grace be upon this shawl….
Warming, comforting, enfolding and embracing.
May this mantle be a safe haven….a sacred place of security and well-being.
Sustaining and embracing in good times as well as difficult ones.
May the one who receives this shawl be cradled in hope, kept in joy,
graced with peace and wrapped in love.

Stewardship Fair
September 25, 2011

We would like to thank all the parishioners who recently
bought raffle tickets or made donations to help us defray the
cost of sending Prayer Shawls to families of fallen soldiers.
Marty Maguire's ticket was drawn at the Stewardship Fair
to make him the lucky winner of the Prayer Shawl Ministry's
large colorful handmade Afghan pictured below.
